Fibre Optic Chandeliers all the rage!

Litetec announce new range of fibre optic chandeliers, designed and produced here in the UK. The prototype bases have been launched in various formations including circular, square, linear and starburst.

After much thought, litetec decided to create bases at 30cm square, small enough to fit most spaces, including sensory rooms, and also much more affordable. If a large space requires a chandelier, grouping 4 or more together is an ideal option.

Each base incorporates 200 pcs of sparkle fibre, the longest drop is up to you. Tiered chandeliers are also an option- enabling you to have a staggered effect, this look particular amazing with the circular base- creating a spiral effect.

The fibre can be finished off with crystal end fittings which can be viewed here. Alternatively, we can heat seal the ends in our factory in doncaster before shipping the finished product off to you.

Assembly is kept to a minimum (you'll be glad to hear!) with simply the fixing of the plate to your ceiling and gluing of the fibre in place. Once the chandelier is up and running, you can decide if you want to chop the fibre and create different shapes (although be careful-once its gone, its gone!)

Prices and images are to be announced soon, so please join our blog here for updates.

New LED Lightsources from litetec ltd

litetec would like to announce the new range of LED light sources.

Among this range, includes, our compact LED light source which is one of the smallest versions around. This source comes with only white light and is ideal for art galleries or projects that might require fibre optic lighting (...as fibre optics don't damage precious artifacts, artistic work or objects in museum cabinets.)

We also have two new twin port light sources. These sources haven't been seen before on the market, and enable a vast array of options. Having two ports therefore means that you can mix n match fibres to create your own kit. We have two new fibres in stock- side glow fibre and sparkle fibre which you can mix up and have one port with side glow and one with sparkle fibre or we also offer end lit fibre and glass fibre optic harnesses, if you wish.

Now you may be asking what is the difference between our two twin port light sources? Well one is equipped with a glass colour wheel and the other with a chip control. Both are colour change, and also allow one colour option and two tone colour- where one port is on a different colour to the other port. These light source are also very ideal for sensory rooms, as you now only need to buy one light source, and you can have two different harnesses!

So..in conclusion, the options are endless (and a little confusing..so please call us on 01702 540187 if you would like to discuss your needs and we can work together to find a suitable solution).

Energy Efficient Fibre Optics- The Benefits

There are many benefits to fibre optic lighting over conventional lighting, the benefits of fibre optics include;

Virtually no heat

Fibre optic cables only transmit light, the cables and fixtures do not generate heat. This makes it ideal for applications where electricity or heat is a concern such as wine racks, in or around water, chilled food cabinets or display cases.

No UV/IR light

Its a safe light that won't damage or degrade sensitive items. Therefore its useful in museum cabinets where you need light but can't risk damaging the display.

Maintenance Free

Compared to LED systems, if one bulb goes the display of light looks broken and is often difficult and costly to be repaired. With fibre optics, no maintenance is required, if the light stops working, which is not very often, the bulb in the lightsource simply needs replacing. This will cost approx £

Reduced Energy Cost

Fibre optics have fewer watts per square foot compared with conventional lighting. Most one off products can be lit with just a 50W lightsource, which is very bright. The maximum lightsource is 250W.

No Electrical Current

There is no electrical current in the fibre optic cable, making them safe to use in wet environments, such as bathrooms, kitchens, and swimming pools.

Less expensive and easier to install

Compared to conventional lighting, where you have to run conduit or wiring, fibre optics only require minimal installation. Normally only drilling of holes or fixing the cable in place, then choosing an appropraite place for the lightsource.

Easily Accessible

The lightsource is mounted in a convenient location, enabling easy change of lamps if required.

Vast Colour and Effects

A rotating colour wheel in a fibre optic system can easily change the colour of the light. On our lightsources we have a remote control that allows the user to "pause on colour." The lightsources are fitted with a dichroic filter wheel and heat filter to prevent burn out or colour fade. As well as colour wheels you can also have twinkle wheels and waterfall effect wheels. If you required just white light, this is simple to achieve. Therefore, fibre optics allow for vast changes in colour and effects, easily changing the colour to suit the mood or for an update.
