< Back PRISMS Prisms are blocks of optical material with flat polished sides arranged at precisely controlled angles to each other, which deflect, deviate and rotate beams of light as well as dispersing their wavelengths. There are many types of prism, each having a particular geometry to achieve the reflections necessary to perform as specific imaging task. Reflecting prisms produce spectrual seperations for spectroscopic applications or for tuning a laser output.			By adding a wedge and a partial reflective coating on surface S1, Penta Prisms can be used as beamsplitters. Transmission/reflection (T/R) ratio of 20/80, 50/50.Please specify your requirements.

Penta Prism	BK7		Penta Prisms can deviate an incident beam without inverting or reversing to 90° . The deviation angle of 90° is independent of any rotation of the prism about an axis parallel to the line of intersection of the two reflecting surfaces. It is commonly used in Plumb level, Surveying, Alignment, Rangefinding and Optical Tooling.
Dove Prism	BK7		The main application of a Dove Prism is to rotate an image. It can also be used as a retroflector where it performs as a right angle prism.
Right Angle Prism	BK7 Fused Silica		A right angled prism is used as a mirror to deviate light through 90°, and also as a retroreflector to deflect light through 180° by total internal reflection. 90° deflection occurs at the hypotenuse face. The image is erect and reversed.
Corner Cube Retroreflector	BK7		A Corner Cube retroreflector has three mutually perpendicular surfaces and a hypotenuse face. Light entering through the hypotenuse is reflected by each of the three surfaces in turn and will emerge through the hypotenuse face parallel to the entering beam regardless of the orientation of the incident beam. 180° deflection uses the hypotenuse as the entrance and exit face.
Roof Prism (Amici Prism)	BK7		A Roof Prism can invert and reverse an image, also, deflect the image 90°. Therefore, it is often used in terrestial telescopes, viewing systems and rangefinders.
Dispersion Prism	BK7 Fused Silica SF-14		The dispersion prism is a commonly used optical component for dispersing the spectrum.
